Abstract
In the 1890's it was alleged that there were about 180 vestigial organs in the human body (Wiedersheim 1895). It was claimed that this many "useless, leftover relics from the past" gave the strongest proof of evolution. Today there are no vestigial organs left. We now understand the functions for all of the alleged vestigial organs. And for most there are numerous different functions.
