Abstract
There are two current explanations for the geologic formations of the crust of the earth as they are found to day. One accounts for thees features as a result of natural processes which have been operating through countless ages of the past. The other holds that such formations are the result of a catastrophe of world magnitude. The theory of uniformitarianism (that nature has always proceeded as at present), as elaborated by modern geologists, is a little more than a century old. The belief in a universal Deluge is as old as written history.
