Abstract
This book is most appropriately dedicated "To all who are interested in a broad understanding and peaceful discussion of controversial issues." L. Duane Thurman (Ph.D. in Botany from the University of California at Berkeley) has succeeded very well in such a dedication in this book "intended to furnish high school and college students with a balanced approach to the origin of life which is missing from most introductory biology, anthropology, evolution and geology texts." (p. 11, Preface). He seems to write to each young reader personally.
