Book review: Slaughter of the Dissidents: The Shocking Truth about Killing the Careers of Darwin Doubters by Jerry Bergman | Frair, W. 2009.
CRSQ 46(1):39. CELD ID 23858Abstract Coupled with its provocative title, this book is sufficient to shake a reader from head to foot. As the first of five proposed volumes, this issue truly is an experience. My attention was riveted and my emotions ranged from delight to disgust, mostly the latter. We are served by Bergman (and lesser authors including Kevin H. Wirth, D. James Kennedy, and John Eidsmoe) a smorgasbord of true stories. Most of the victims unjustifiably suffered seriously, being denied educational advancement, status, positions, compensation, etc. However, there is near the end of the book a redeeming "survivors" chapter presenting accounts of those including Wernher Von Braun who came through persecution with relative success.
