|Book review: Mind over Matter: Teaching of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, on Science, Technology and Medicine by Professor Herman Branover and Rabbi Joseph Ginsburg|
The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menahem Mendel Schneerson, was a master of Torah, Hasidism, and natural science. He studied science at the University of Berlin from 1928 to 1932 and at the Sorbonne from 1934 to 1938. Among the many responsibilities he took upon himself in becoming the spiritual leader of the Habad Lubavitch movement was teaching modern Jews how and why science does not contradict Torah. Mind over Matter presents the Rebbe's views on this subject in a systematic and readable manner. The material of the book is taken from the Rebbe's published discourses, his correspondence with eminent scientists, and reports of private meetings with him. The editor and translator, Dr. Aryeh Gotfryd, narrates and annotates the selections form discourses that were originally published in Professor Branover and Rabbii Ginsburg's? Hebrew book Mah Rabu Ma'secha (Jerusalem: SHAMIR, 2000).
