Abstract
Waterloo Road is a popular BBC1 drama about life in a comprehensive school in the north of England. It has been described as "Grange Hill for adults", which may give you a flavour of it. It is hardly edifying viewing! However, I was sufficiently intrigued by one theme running through the latest series that I tuned in to the final episode to see how it would be handled by the programme-makers. What was the theme? No less than the debate about the teaching of creation in UK schools!
