Early Vikings and the Ice Age: a preliminary report | Friedrich, O. 1985.
NCC83 :57-62. CELD ID 19261Abstract About 2350 B.C., nearly 4,500 years ago, the earth was deluged with a massive flood as the "fountains of the deep" and the "windows of heaven" were opened. So great was the catastrophe that even the highest mountains were covered by water. The destruction of all kinds of life was tremendous, followed by deposition of both organic and inorganic materials over the existing bedrock. Bedrock in the midwest and upper midwest was primarily granite, and the deposition was primarily limestone and sandstone. Meanwhile, the entire planet was convulsed. Huge ocean trenches, formed in both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, are known to be as deep as seven miles. The planet was making enormous adjustments. Flood waters nearer the equator drained to form seas and oceans.
