Theological Insights from Charles Darwin | Lamoureux, DO. 2004.
PSCF 56(1):2-12. CELD ID 18798Abstract Regrettably, both secularists and numerous evangelical Christians have painted a dark and sinister picture of the religious implications of Charles Darwin's theory of biological evolution. This has led to a cultural myth that sees him as one of the modern apostles of unbelief. However, the primary historical literature reveals that Darwin was thinking theologically throughout his career and that his reflections were sophisticated. In particular, he dealt with the religious themes of intelligent design in nature, the problem of pain, and Divine sovereignty over the world. Theological insights form Charles Darwin are valuable in understanding the challenges that biological evolution presents to religion.
