Abstract
I have to make a short statement before beginning my paper, partly touching on the delay referred to by the Secretary, but principally to show how it was that I wrote the paper. Having given a short description of the Creation story of the Babylonians in my book which has just been published-The Old Testament in the light of the legends and records of Assyria and Babylonia, I thought it would be a good thing to make a complete translation of the tablets, including the two principal versions of the Creation story. This I began last year and finished it early this year, and here is the result. I then decided that ti might, perhaps, be well to write a paper on the subject instead of giving a translation, word for word (as in the book), giving simply a paraphrase.
