PSCF 40(2):72-73. CELD ID 1451Abstract The significance of thermodynamics to the origin of life has been widely debated for the past twenty-five years. In this paper, the thermodynamic significance of the origin of life are evaluated and the potential for such work to be accomplished with the available energy sources is determined. Relevant experimental work is interpreted in light of the thermodynamic analysis. Illustrations are included to assist persons not familiar with thermodynamics with its concepts.
