CS Dialogue 16(1):4-5. CELD ID 13511 Abstract As far as the average teenager in Alberta is concerned, the new science curriculum will be greeted with enthusiasm. Far more than previous efforts, these new courses are designed to be relevant and interesting to the student. It seems reasonable to expect that greater interest on the part of the student and better achievement will go hand in hand. There are however some worrying aspects to the new directions. These concerns centre on the increased number of courses which must be made available and on the requirement for the development of specific attitudes (beliefs) on the part of the student.
