Abstract
A groundbreaking interdisciplianry conference on information and DNA was held in Tacoma, Washington, on June 23-26, 1988, under the title "Sources of Information Content in DNA." Organized by Charles Thaxton, the conference brought together molecular biologists (Gordon Mills, Michael Denton, Peter Rust), organismal biologists (David Wilcox, Pattle Pun, Wayne Frair), geologists (Edwin Olson, John Wiester), physicists and astronomers (Howard Van Till, Bob Newman, Hugh Ross), mathematicians (Hubert Yockey, David Bossard), philosophers of science (Robert Augros, George Stanciu, Stephen Meyer), and others from related disciplines. Among the papers circulated for discussion prior to the conference was Thaxton's essay "In Pursuit of Intelligent Causes," which appears in print for the first time in this issue of O and D.
