Origins-BCS 25:31-33. CELD ID 10506Abstract For many years, reductionism has been the dominant paradigm in science-the idea that we gain understanding of physical processes by reducing them to smaller and smaller sub-units. Questions of why a system behaves in a certain way are usually answered by showing how the behavior can be explained in terms of what is happening to smaller parts of the system. Everything, in other words, is reduced ultimately to mechanism.
